I Love You, You Love Me

Jason was sitting on the couch next to me, as I was nursing Lorelai, when we had this conversation...

Jason: I love you, Mom.

Me: I love you too.

Jason: I love you sister (leaning over to say it quietly in her ear).

Me: She loves you too. Did you know that? Even though she can't say it yet--she already loves you.

Jason: Then why does she cry sometimes.

Me: Because she can't talk, and she cries to tell me that she's tired, or hungry, or wants me to hold her.

Jason: She wants me to feed her too. But I can't 'cause I don't have milk pads.

Me: What? Milk pads?

Jason: Ya, those things (leaning over to point at my exposed right side). And that (pointing to my covered left side). See! (lifting up his shirt to show me his breastless chest).

Thinking on this now, I guess we never refer to my actual anatomy, only what's inside. We call that "mommy milk."
