Baby Pool

Now that he/she will be here in just a few weeks, my curiosity is growing. I thought a baby pool would be fun for everyone :)

Preschool

1st day of preschool....and he LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!

I've been wanting this for a couple of months, but just finally made arrangements yesterday. There is an in-home preschool very near our house that had a space open. He has been talking about how he wants to go to school for at least a year now (every since he understood the concept). But yesterday when I told him, he seemed quite apprehensive--at that point I got a little worried.

This morning when we pulled up, he was a little concerned that it was a house and not a school :) We went in and he could hardly contain his excitement. The Mr. Potato Head was calling to him--he loves the movie Toy Story. He quickly sat down to a puzzle. And Addie and I quickly left. I was a little surprised that he felt comfortable so quickly--surprised, but HAPPY.

Ad and I headed off to the grocery store. A FABULOUS experience--shopping with one is a breeze. Too bad I won't be able to enjoy that for long--well, not really bad.

When we went back to pick him up he was all smiles. Cookie crumb face and all! He made suckers, colored, played with trucks (he said he was a "car exporter," translation: car transporter), made a heart craft, ate cookies, practiced writing his name, worksheets, and who knows what else. There was a bunny and a dog (Gus). From what he told me, Gus and he are great buddies already. Addie was a big fan of Gus too.

I think this is going to be so good for him! And me. And Addie.
He is going to gain so much from the socialization. Although I am still seriously considering home school in the future, right now this is just what he needs :)

It Only Gets Better

I don't want to jinx this, but Addie is blowing me away! Yesterday (day 3) she told me she needed to pee...and did. NO accidents all day...not a drop. This morning (day 4) she told me she needed to go the first two times, and I've had her go three other times. So, she recognizes when she needs to go, AND she can go when I "want" her to go!



I never thought Jason was "hard," but I had no idea how easy Addie would be. With Jase I used the ebook from pottytrainer.com. A timer method, best for age two--before they become truly stubborn.



The other night I was researching night training (Jason was still sleeping at night in diapers), and I came across http://www.thepottybootcamp.com/ Their ebook was super cheap ($6), we had some paypal money left in an account, and I figured at 6 bucks I could at least learn something. SO GLAD I GOT IT!!! It also has a timer method in the beginning, but it tells you step-by-step, day-by-day, what to do. It totally took the stress away for me.

I geared myself up, and was excited about implementing the outline in the book, but I never expected Addie to learn so quickly. Honestly, BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS!

I saved this potty post as a draft, and in the mean time....Addie locked us in the bathroom. Luckily Jason, my 3 1/2 year old hero, knew exactly what to do (thanks to last weeks mishap). While I was unsuccessfully trying to undo the hinges from the inside, Jase went and got a chair, found the missing knob on the bookshelf, and inserted it into the hole. With the twist of his wrist we were free. He was almost as proud of himself as I was. Hmmm....I think it's time to put the knob back on the door ;)
